Topic: PPW Season Nears Its' End

Well, a little less than 2 days left in the current ladder, then the game resets!  What are your fondest memories, your biggest qualms with the gameplay, the worst/best aspect of the game, and who are you ready to smash in the next run-through?

I'm baaaaaaaack.

Re: PPW Season Nears Its' End

Biggest qualm: cribs need a beatdown with the nerf stick.  The population growth formula needs a change too -- growth is too sharp when you have no hoes or when you're at your ho cap.  I was able to make loads of cash with relatively little land exploiting these two concepts -- way more than a dealer territory could have -- with almost nonexistent weed costs and enough pawn shops to buy all of my troops, etc. from the back room.  (I was "forty-four" at the beginning of the run, btw.)

Re: PPW Season Nears Its' End

Not sure why you are nerfing them, There's 3 mo`scrills on top at the end of this run, And this has been known for a while atleast i knew of it two runs ago when there was the hoe's buff... no reason to nerf it.. If you do decide to nerf it don't over do it and make it take 200 turns to regain hoes when you can lose them all in 30 turns... It's just gonna make this game a 3 type empire again -_- .

Well that was my 2 cents

Re: PPW Season Nears Its' End

The population growth formula just doesn't make sense. But despite having used it myself and experienced its goodness, I have to say that it's a very tiring build. I don't care if you have to macro it with some program, but the process of abusing the formula is relatively long and repetitive. On top of that, it's not a good build for hitting, which is unavoidable towards the top (the only reasons Billmaan was able to stay there with his hoes build was that everyone was so busy hitting us SYN people, while I laid down a "no hit on forty-four" rule very early on in the run).

Making hoes build weaker is not necessary. Hit-and-delete tactic should never work, because otherwise it'll just become a simple resort for people who can't compete at the high levels to take revenge easily.

Re: PPW Season Nears Its' End

I don't think the amount of time you have to invest in the build is really any excuse to leave it as is.  The population growth formula really doesn't make any sense at the extremes anyway, and that alone should really be enough to incite change, but when you exploit the drop all hoes / regain more than your cap behavior it really does just work too well.  Maybe the build wouldn't feel so overpowered if you couldn't do that...I don't really know since I've never tried.  Regardless, it all just feels very broken, and I don't think the amount of micromanagement needed is a good reason to let that slide.  (The game should be more about strategy than about time investment.)
