Topic: Mars Volta

So, I started listening to Dropkick Murphys a little bit ago. I decided I liked enough of their songs to warrent purchasing some albums. Now, my brother has been trying to get me to join BMG (or sound in spirit, whichever you prefer) for awhile. So I thinks, hey, dropkick murphys has something like 5 albums, so I see if BMG has them in stock. They don't, of course. I start to wonder if they have any other modern bands that I might like, and I think about Mars Volta (believing they wouldn't have them). Turns out they do.

This brings me to my question. I bought the frances the mute cd when it came out two years ago, and haven't gotten any of their cd's since. Are the newer albums worthwhile?

Re: Mars Volta

I say no, but no amount of opinions will change yours.  If you just want to check them out download them and give them a run through yourself.

Re: Mars Volta

They only have one newer one than FTM, and I like it pretty good. (Although they have one coming near the end of January, atm).

Their best is "Deloused in the Comatorium" (not sure on the exact spelling of that last word) though, their first full album. I would go with that before the newer one, although I like them both, personally.

Re: Mars Volta

If you really like them check out their EP before Deloused, Tremulant I believe it was called.  I own all their music, I am a fan-boy.

(If you want to hear their "roots" check out At The Drive-In and DeFacto, all very well done music)
