No, its just the demo of the creature editor. Not to be confused with the creature editor itself. This is the demo of the demo.

I have been playing with this demo demo for a few days, and it is awesome beyond recognition. I am the only one in my surroundings who is as enthousiastic as I am, so I guess that I am in the minority in my love for procedural animations, textures, models and incredibly flexible customization.

Please, as an expert (or so they claim) in my field, believe me when I say that this thing is amazing. If there would be some tool or hack that would let me extract the model and the animations form this tool, it would save me days and weeks of effort in creating assets for a game. Even if I just use it for rapid prototyping for fantasy creatures, it works amazing. Just with the limited toolset, the flexibility freaks me out...
I pray that EA will convert this into a tool for commercial character/animation creation, it would be glorious.

If you dont see the point of this thing, dont bother buying it. Just like I wont be buying the whole game, which will just be B&W all over again.

Disclaimer: I am reasonably drunk while writing this. I just wanted to share that.

Spore apparently has a peculiar way of saving creatures. If you put this .png file in your Documents\My Spore Creatures\Creatures, you can load it in the editor and play around with it yourself.

this is what i came up with so far, not going to pay $10 for the full version creature creator or i'd probably have made an herbivore, but it was fun putting this guy together and i for sure can't wait for the game to actually come out!
