A little heavy on the sarcasm maybe? I was over halfway through the article and was still unclear what his actual point was. He described the game from two angles and was sarcastic for both of them. I think I figured it out by the end but Jesus, couldn't he just say it straight?
It was pretty funny though.

I don't see why people complain about complainers. Isn't it obvious that D3 follows the same exaggerated style of WoW?

That's partially their complaint. The art style is too much like WoW. Atleast with WoW, you could see the progression with it's art style in the franchise to where it is now in WoW. With Diablo, the art style progressed to Diablo 2. Then in Diablo 3 it's like they meshed Diablo and Warcraft together to come up with their art direction.
Now don't take my post as me crying over the style. I would play D3 if it were on the original Gameboy with 4 shades of green as long as it has the core gameplay intact. I'm just pointing out why some of them are crying.

The only way that the graphics in D3 are like WoW graphics is in the fact that both are better than Diablo 2's...

I don't think it is something to complain about, but looking at the doctored screens I do think the "After" looks better than the "Before."

I think so as well to be honest....they don't make things look "darker" in the figurative sense...only in the literal sense...and it makes everything just look crappier and dirtier as opposed to more depressing or more in line with "Diablo lore".

I do think the after pictures are more in character with the Diablo series. As nice as the before pictures are they are a bit too pretty.
It kind of reminds me of a mod a guy from Modforge was doing a few years back called Warcraft Grim Fantasy. He was reskining all of the Warcraft 3 units to make them look darker, meaner, and more like the orcs looked in Warcraft 1 so they were less comical.

I actually think the top one looks a lot better after, but the bottom doesn't.

I mean, I agree with that 100%. It goes from D2's dark realistic style to a cartoon exaggerated style. What annoys me (I'm actually indifferent towards D3's art style -- what annoys me is how Blizzard seems to be CnPing the same art style for each of their games) is how people who don't play Diablo make fun of the Diablo players and then make up their own versions of what the people are complaining about.

I agree. The darkness is a bit exaggerated for OUTSIDE. But the one on top looks pretty awesome. I just think the "Light Radius" around the character should clear up the screen a little bit more.

I don't really see a huge problem with how the game is looking right now. So long as it is Diablo I will play it...I trust in Blizzard.
I remember when I brought the Hellfire expansion home...so much fun. Had to install it on my friends computer. His mom bitched at us all the time about the violence and stuff. Then there was the time I got searched at school because my friend and I were passing notes about "MFing" and "occy" and "Meph runs"...They thought we were drug traffickers?
