Topic: GOMTV / Intel / Samsung Star Invitational Streaming tourney

The streaming matches has kept me glued to the browser for some days. Pretty good ENGLISH commentary, at least they got a competent guy. I've always been a backseat gamer at times and this is just awesome. I hope they do the same with other games

I love Star series. They always put out great quality matches.

Re: GOMTV / Intel / Samsung Star Invitational Streaming tourney

Cool enough to be able to watch them when bored, but hard to really see whats going on when you can't go fullscreen.

Re: GOMTV / Intel / Samsung Star Invitational Streaming tourney

If anyone is still interested in Starcraft, season 2 of this tourney has begun awhile back. It has been pretty entertaining with people using unorthodox builds and such.

I like watching competitions like this too, but.. If this is a good english commentary.. then the bad ones must be absolute crap.. I don't have a lot of experience listening to this sort of coverage, but I've watched two games so far from that site, and all that the english commentators say is "oh my god" "what's going on?" and "dude, it's totally over!" The best they seem to be able to do is describe what I'm already seeing, when I want to know a bit of insight on what the strategies might be. I seriously have to turn off the sound sometimes because of how much they're getting on my nerves sad

Well knows he who uses to consider, that our faith and knowledge thrives by exercise, as well as our limbs and complexion. Truth is compared in Scripture to a streaming fountain; if her waters flow not in a perpetual progression, they sicken into a muddy pool of conformity and tradition. A man may be a heretic in the truth; and if he believe things only because his pastor says so, or the Assembly so determines, without knowing other reason, though his belief be true, yet the very truth he holds becomes his heresy.

You must be watching games where the players are using out of the box strategies and cheese. There is not much one could comment on. If you saw something unexpected and not know what they are doing, even if you have experience in this subject field there nothing you can really talk about until after the fact the game the is done.

It also helps if you read up on strategies or know something about the game to know what they are talking about. Sites like teamliquid.net are helpful, which many on that site believe the commentary being presented is good.

Re: GOMTV / Intel / Samsung Star Invitational Streaming tourney

Ok, I'll take your word for it. In the game I'm watching right now, Notice vs. IntoTheRainBOw, Rainbow accidentally builds a nexus at an expansion a few spaces too far away from the minerals, and the commentator starts obsessing about it. He literally talks about nothing else for the entire rest of the game, and is 100% sure that the game was over as soon as the nexus started building.

Then Rainbow wins (as protoss) by preventing an EMP during the main fight, while getting off a very well placed stasis of his own. Even after it was clear that he had won, the commentator is still saying "his new name should be 'awayFromTheMinerals lololololol what a noob". I'm like -_-;;

It is a big deal. You lose resources. These are pro-gamers they need to min and max their resources.

I know it's a big deal, but cmon. He ignores everything else and only talks about that.

You notice that these commentators have no control of the camera. So, they can only comment what is seen on screen. Also, Protoss vs Terran is a boring matchup it is all about building up economy and watching till the right moment. There not much to say.

Re: GOMTV / Intel / Samsung Star Invitational Streaming tourney

The Nick guy who comments on the games is a very experienced commentator. He knows what he's talking about, let's say. Like Weaver said they see what was presented, the camera guy sometimes is very sketchy in presenting what's actually going on, so it's not really the fault of the commentator. Also, this season's games have been very weird, just from the ones I've seen. Lots of upsets, lots of weird mistakes and turnarounds, and just general weird plays. They said the korean commentators are also surprised quite often, as are the audience.

Re: GOMTV / Intel / Samsung Star Invitational Streaming tourney

The first season's commentary was really good. The 2nd season is pretty alright as well, the girl is probably just there for nick to comment more. Notice vs. IntoTheRainBOw matches weren't that exciting in terms of commentary, building up their economies and armies took up most of their time and there was not much exciting plays.

As far as I can tell, nick was a pro gamer in the american leagues and has plenty of experience with the game. He does mention that he will be doing commentary for blizzcon, so I guess thats a sign of success...

He was the main sc commentator at WWI, and I think the last BlizzCon.

Re: GOMTV / Intel / Samsung Star Invitational Streaming tourney

If anyone is interested, the next live stream will be happening on October 1st/October 2nd at 9:00 PST/12:00 EST (SORRY THOMAS). During the last broadcasting, Lizzie (14_1's), Thomas (prencher), and me (Weavist) talked about the some of the matches on IRC (It was really late in the West Coast and East Coast that time!). It would be more interesting if there were more people this time. Also, you get to see crazy Korean commericals and sometimes you might see your favorite movie star/musician on Korean TV! Keep your eyes peeled to this page: http://www.gomtv.net/classics2/live/

BTW: You need to download GOM Player in order watch the cast!
http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html

Also, note that the Terran Emperor (Slayer's Boxer) will be playing!
