Topic: Best solution for getting wireless internet on a desktop

Just curious as to what is the best way for getting wireless on a desktop. I know I could buy a wireless card (if thats the case any recommendations?) but I also remember hearing an alternate solution, one 360 users have been using. It's like some sort of router you just plug into and it acts as some sort of wireless reciever? I'm just curious as to what is the best/cheapest route to go, and if there are any other options?

The thing you speak of is called a wireless client bridge, or sometimes a wireless gaming bridge.   They are designed for consoles which only have an ethernet port, and/or have very expensive official wifi adapters.   They will work just fine with a PC.

The plus: it will work with any PC, laptop, or otherwise, mac, PC, whatever so long as it has an ethernet port, and you can set it up with no wireless drivers. They usually have good antennas built in too.

The minus: They require an extra power brick power them usually, and often cost more than a standard USB wireless dongle.

Some routers and accesspoints (most notably the linksys ones) can be hacked or configured to act like a wireless client bridge.   This saves money if you already have a spare old router, or if you can find one for cheaper than the bridge (which is often the case, as the bridges are aimed towards a different market, with larger profit margins)
