Topic: Left 4 Dead is free for 24 hours on Steam

Valve's hosting a free 24-hour period this Friday for Left 4 Dead. Pre-load now!

Beginning Friday at 12:01 am GMT, the PC version of Left 4 Dead will be available for a free 24-hour trial via Steam. The free trial will include access to the recently released Survival Pack DLC, which introduces a new multiplayer game mode and two additional Versus campaigns. Those who wish to give L4D and the Survival Pack a try may now pre-load everything needed to play with no obligation to purchase.

Does anybody else on here have L4D for PC?  I do, but for some reason I don't ever see any pubbies playing...I think I saw Vis playing a few days ago, but that was the first (and last) time.

I also have it for 360 but I plan on selling it. I'm not sure what I was thinking with it either. The game has like 5 different enemies and a swarm of zombies that just rush at you, and only a handful of guns. Not in the least surprising that I got bored with it after a week, even with heavily taking advantage of split screen, versus, and co-op.

There is a lot more strategy involved than just being a retard and shooting all that moves.
And on the other side of the coin just charging in like mindless zombie (I made a funny) when playing infected is strategizing at a grade 6 level.
I really doubt you took *heavy* advantage of versus.

You post leads me to believe you didn't play the game with friends. It is important to really enjoy that game.

I've been playing a third party "hunter training" map single player on/off in my free time.

Me, Tage, Dugalle, Aeryx, one of my RL friends, his roommate, and his brother do versus/campaign/survivor semiregularly as well.

Hmm, maybe I don't know their names.  I thought I've played with them all before on TF2 though, but I never see them on L4D, could just be bad timing.  My steam ID is dirandi, btw.  I want to eat some survivor brains with you guys sometime.

My steam ID is xgunkillx. We have a couple more people that play with us that Viserys didn't mention so it is pretty easy to get a 4-person game going with us and we've been doing our fair share of 3v3 and 4v4 versus. Weaver is correct though, being good at the game sucks ass. Completely fucking up is way more entertaining. Also, holy shit Death Toll on versus.

It doesn't get any more involved than getting drunk and killing zombies with three friends taking turns after deaths. I've tried online with friends, in the room with one friend, and hell, even parties where a shit load of people are watching and taking turns. It just felt repetitive and old to me. Thanks for informing me that there is more to the game than running around and shooting! Appreciate it.

I think I put in at least 10 hours. Hell, look at my gamer card. We only played a quarter of the time on my account, if that tells you anything.

I like co-op games more than competitive games and I guess that's why I like L4D so much. It's not for everyone though and some people who love it can't see why people can't.
