Wow. In the near six years I've been on this site, I think this may be the most informative thread I've ever read. Thanks for all the tips guys.

Thanks for the thoroughly indepth description likwid (:
But you misunderstood me or I must have been vauge; I dont do casein at all, i didnt know of it until you mentioned it. Only whey. I take about 3x30grams of whey (80%protein) a day now, morning, before and after workout. And at same time period the days I dont workout (if I remember to).
...Nitric Oxide inhibitor, it will help keep this pump longer and if you take the NO product longer than a month you will almost keep your pump all week long with no shrinkage, in my experience.
This sounds all too awesome, totally aestethic, right? But awesome none the less, since yea - I do work out mainly to just look good. How to get these and whats the price of it? In the past week or 2 I have had major progress with strength development contrary to before I worked out without eating whey. I gained about 4kg/9pounds - even though I feel like my tummy-fat has increased I dont really care and am overall happy with the result. But I adjusted my whey intake to see if I can eat less each day and still progress as steady in strength.
I believe in what you say as the muscle will rip itself apart if you dont let it rest for minimum 24 hours, roids will lower this time period to 14 hours or so, but your bone and other tissues still need 18-20h of rest. If I remember correctly from my college-biology
I've been raised with the notice that muscle can never "turn into fat". And Ive heard the (kinda) opposite of what you said that the body will, in need of energy, eat off the muscle (apparently the body believes its better to not be able to throw stones but to keep out the cold). Again, Im no way sure this is true.
You can get NO products at most places you can buy protein at. If you shop around for good prices you can get a 20 day supply for about $20. I've only used NO products with Arginine alpha-ketoglutarate. Arginine also comes in Ethyl ester and some other variations but I'm not sure which is best. I never really got too into them because they can be a bit pricey.

^^ That is what I usually buy. The outdated stuff is still cool to use and it's cheaper. I buy it and it works well. Sometimes they will have the black version on sale. That stuff is very good imo. Truthfully any product that has arginine alpha ketoglutarate will work. Arginine dilates the blood vessels and has blood pump through your body parts that usually don't get as much blood without using it.
If you also want to seem like you are getting big quick and don't mind losing some of the "ripped" look, try some creatine. Creatine basically saturates your muscles with water. It also allows some people to lift heavier and with more reps. This made a big difference visually and some effect was noticed in the gym as well. This can be found for much cheaper than NO products. BUT if you are going to buy creatine, get it in creatine ethyl ester form. Creatine monohydrate is too "gritty". CEE is finer, therefore it penetrates the muscles more and deeper. Thus allowing more water to be retained in the muscles.
Primaforce sells a 250 gram jar for like $20. It lasts like 4 months. Bad side is that you have to either put it in capsules yourself so you can consume or parachute it by placing some on a tissue paper then swallowing the balled up tissue with some liquid. You can get CEE already capsuled up but it will cost a bit more.

Creatine Ethyl Ester+NO products will have you looking like you gained 10 pounds of muscle quick.
For the pumps to stay beyond workout session, you have to take NO products about 3-4 weeks and continue to do so.
BTW There many other sites that sell supplements besides the one I linked. It's just the one I usually but not always buy my stuff from.

I heart www.dpsnutrition.com.

Muscle won't turn into fat, but lipolysis is slow. Muscle degradation is mainly a concern for endurance athletes (marathon runners, cyclists, XC skiiers). While the majority of expenditure by muscles is carbs and fat, you do need to use some protein to support the reactions.
The energy use goes down in this order: Glucose(simple sugars) > Glycogen > triglycerides (fat).
Simple sugars provide you with about 5-7 minutes of 90+% power.. Glycogen gives you about 1-1.5 hours of 80% power. fat can give you hours and hours of power, but at like <50%. if you're down to only fat, you're pretty much useless in a race.
What happens in an endurance athlete is that at about the 1.5 hour point, if they haven't been drinking sports drink or gels the whole time, they are running in starvation mode as they are out of glycogen. This is known as 'hitting the wall' or 'bonking.' Considering you keep running, the body is required to keep finding a source of energy. So you start to break down whatever you can get at, and if it's not in the bloodstream it's coming from somewhere else in your body. This can't be done very quickly, which is why you slow down drastically. That's when a process known as ketosis starts.
Glucose is the energy source used initially by cells in the body due to its availability within the cell, ketosis is regarded as a crisis reaction of the body due to a lack of carbohydrates in the diet. Ketosis would thus be a dangerous (potentially life-threatening) state which unnecessarily stresses the liver and causes destruction of muscle tissues.
Your body is thinking at this point that the reason you're running without food is that you are running for your life and will sacrifice your muscles for your 'safety'. Endurance drinks will include a small amount of protein in addition to carbs and electrolytes, because it'll hit your bloodstream a lot faster, and mitigate your body from attacking itself.
For weight lifters, you need some amount of protein to support muscle contraction during workout, but mostly it's for rebuilding muscle and constructing new fibers afterwards. So it's less important to have the protein during your workout as it is after the workout when your body is rebuilding (but you should have it anyway if you can remember to) Also, if you're ever at all hungry during a workout, eat immediately; and some of that should be protein. A powerbar, Clif Builder's Bar, protein shake, chocolate milk, sandwich, whatever you want. Have it ready in your locker or something in case you need it, then go back to your workout.
Well shucks.. I did some quick research and apparently Creatine Ethyl Ester isn't legal in Denmark. The best I could find was creatine monohydrate "micronized" (as oppose to crystalized). I can buy 1200g of this for 30$. This seems to me like a fair deal. Considering my lack of options.
I'm searching for other items now... I found something called "Horse Power" which is a mix of CEE and NOX. I might attempt with that one after the easter holidays.
I should try and put up some before/after images if I can get around it.
Crast, how long does DPS nutrition usually take to arrive at your house after ordering?
SW takes a bit of time and I need it asap. I just got off my break from going to the gym. First day was yesterday and I went as heavy as I used to go and I am feeling it now for my stupidity. But this is the soreness I would love to get during all my workouts but soon my body will be accustomed again to this exercise and rarely will I get this awesome feeling.

About 3-4 days, I think it was. I got just normal US postal ground shipping, cos I'm a cheapass. I doubt they are going to have it at your door any earlier than tuesday or wednesday if you order today though, and probably thursday.
Cool. That seems better than SW. They take about a week. If you order on a Friday or on the weekend, it seems it takes so long due to the fact they don't do anything on weekends.
I order from DPS 5lbs of Elite and some other things.
I also checked on SW and they have Elite at $30 again but it seems DPS has better prices on just about all the things I buy so I am switching over. Thanks for the heads up.
Recieved my NOx product today "NO-Xplode" - I was trying to go for the "Horsepower" product which was a combination of CCE and NOx - unfortunately it's sold out everywhere for another 3 weeks.
I'm testing out the NOx as it says on the label - "assessing my tolerance" and so far it's making my ass Xplode as if I was on Thermapower.
Workout starts sunday - looking forward to it.

Dymatize Elite 12 Hour: I recently bought this a week ago. It's a whey and casein complex. It keeps protein available for your body for up to 12 hours. The taste is okay. Not as good as the normal Elite products by the same company but I'm sure that is due to then casein within it. But the price was great. $30 for a 4.4lb tub. Will buy again.
People some to complain or at least leave a solid remark at the taste of a product. I really don't think it's such a big deal.
Why not judge a product's taste though? You do have to taste it. If a product is equal to another in what it offers nutritionally and price, then the what would matter is the taste. I'd also be willing to sacrifice some of the nutrients to taste if I have to. But what decides the most for me besides nutrients is the price.
Some of these shakes are meal replacements. Why not have a meal that tastes good? I want to be healthy and fit but I don't want it to suck every time I wish to consume something.
Nutrients
Price
Taste
Those are the main things I judge a shake product by. There are other things like texture and ability to be mixed with ease but they don't have much weight in what I decide to buy. Those are more like bonuses.
Yeah you're quite right. It's just that I sacrificed the luxury of taste looong time ago - and really dont care as long as it isn't downright unetable.
I was the same way when I started with the shakes. I didn't care as long as it got me closer to where I wanted to be. But this was brought forth by me first tasting crappy shakes and thinking all of them were this way. I then shopped around due to better priced products and found some that tasted fairly good. I knew then that there were some products that were tasty so I didn't have to endure those nasty tastes to get some bigger muscles.
I'm with Cid on that taste is certainly something you can choose on, especially with the huge range of products out there.
The other thing is, since I am somewhat lactose intolerant, the better-formulated products I have found make me much less likely to be bloated and gassy all day. And depending on if I have to be around people at all that day, some protein mixes are out.
So my criteria is something like
nutrition
lactose content
taste
price
I'd gladly pay more for a protein which doesn't make me toot all day
tooting is fun, though. especially tooting while tweeting.
ok not really, but I'm a sucker for alitteration.
