Topic: Shameless request for advice regarding new gaming rig

Hi guys. Anyone still here?

You all have always been the best that I've seen at coming up with suggestions regarding parts for a new computer. Part of that seems to be how informed you are, and part of that seems to be a knowledge of what parts are likely compatible with each other (especially you Pissing)

I'd like for my new machine to be highly consistent with the technologies that Blizzard considers to be 'home turf', i.e. what hardware Blizzard primarily supports. (I heard that Blizzard was teaming up with nVidia, and that nVidia was the preferred graphics solution, for example. I can't find very much evidence about that now, though.) In this way I'm hoping to be able to run WoW at peak performance and hopefully be well prepared for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.

I could put the pieces together myself, if you're sure you have the PERFECT combination of parts, but it would kinda be great to get the PC as a package deal, so that I don't have to worry about compatibility issues between parts or go through the hassle of building it.

My budget is around 1-1.5k or so. The last gaming PC I got was in 2002 and it cost me 1.4k, but that came with a monitor and peripherals that I'll already have this time around.

Anyone have any ideas?

Well knows he who uses to consider, that our faith and knowledge thrives by exercise, as well as our limbs and complexion. Truth is compared in Scripture to a streaming fountain; if her waters flow not in a perpetual progression, they sicken into a muddy pool of conformity and tradition. A man may be a heretic in the truth; and if he believe things only because his pastor says so, or the Assembly so determines, without knowing other reason, though his belief be true, yet the very truth he holds becomes his heresy.

Re: Shameless request for advice regarding new gaming rig

$1.5k will get you a top-of-the-line killer gaming rig now. And it's a significant period where both AMD and Intel systems are viable options, AMD being the slightly more sensible one if you are planning on a long term upgrade path.

I refer you to this guide if you want details:

Total gimmick. Blizzard makes an effort to have their games be compatible with most combination of hardware possible. There is no "home turf".

In fact WoW had an nVidia logo in it graphical settings menu, yet was found to have compatibility issues with some SLI setups. So really do not limit yourself because of something like that.

Your build looks good.

Plus, it's also known that Blizzard is developing using Havok for physics in all their upcoming games, and ATI is teamed with Havok. Which basically puts Blizzard in line with ATI and directly against Nvidia and PhysX.
