Yeah. Seen this the other day.
Can't a company buy the IP and make a new Duke game or create their own DNF? I could see someone picking up the IP and finishing the game in 2 years from top to bottom.
Or is everyone jumping at the chance to jest at the cost of DNK's name? Hyuck hyuck Never. Fornever. DNF. I know it was in the article and you didn't make it up but I seriously think no one can out do 3D Realms with their own title for the game in regards to humor. Every attempt just seems very cheesy.
Duke Nukem Forever is a cheesy title to begin with, and the circumstances that surrounded it over the years invited all the name calling, which, incidentally, is what keeps the game and the company in anyone's discussion. Nobody would have given a shit if it wasn't for the jokes.
Yeah, I'm sure it was only the name of the game and length of production that made people anticipate this game even with the very limited information on it. There were many that wanted DNF because of their enjoyment of previous Duke games. The hype of 3D Realms releasing some information very rarely kept the game in the minds of people just when people would begin to forget. I truly don't think it was the jokes. But whatever....
I agree that Forever was a stupid name for the game even if it was done to fit the B movie feel of Duke. It still doesn't negate the idiotic attempts of trying to out do it in some lame way of proving someone can rhyme simple words.
Honestly, I don't even like Duke. I never played the side scrollers. I just recently bought DN3D for XBLA. I played it for 10 minutes and never played again. It's a game I had to play when it was first released like Marathon to appreciate it. I saw the trailer that was on the Unreal engine and was blown away by it. I then seen the pics thrown around my 3DR. I anticipated it to some extent for awhile but gave up on it when I knew waiting for it was just stupid.
Only brainless fanboys seriously waited for the game. When a game development takes 12 years and the company not making any release for a decade, you know it's a dead end road. It really was just a matter of time before the publisher pulls the plug, no matter how big the original hype was.
