Topic: Running Bootcamp

I just decided to put Vista on my Macbook. After going through the entire process of putting in on, I cannot figure out what to do next after installing Vista. Every guide says to use a Mac OSX 10.5.whatever disc to install the necessary drivers, but I do not have an OSX disc. Instead, I downloaded the Bootcamp 2.0 drivers directly, but I cannot figure out what to do with them. It seems like everybody opens Windows and then installs the drivers, but I cannot figure out how to open Windows. Halp D:

tl;dr Can't figure out how to install bootcamp drivers halp D:

The bootcamp program, run in OSX, will help you burn a driver CD. That or you can just move the contents to a USB flash key.

but I cannot figure out how to open Windows. Halp D:

Hold down "option" at boot time. Choose the HD that's not your mac install.  It may say something like "DOS" on the label. That will boot vista/XP.

If you want a pretty boot menu rather than a hacky option trick that takes a while to scan drives look up rEFIt

Re: Running Bootcamp

I didn't want to create yet another thread, so I'm going to post this here:

I reformatted my computer, but me younger sibling threw out most of my old CDs, my Asus M2A-VM mobo installation cd included. I figured I'd just then download the drivers online, but the problem is I cannot fucking find them and it's driving me insane. The only links that seem like they would actually contain them are broken or the downloads just flat out do not work. Does anybody here know where I can get the damned drivers for my mobo? Help, as always, would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Running Bootcamp

support.asus.com has them under support/ motherboards/ socket am2,am2+, and am3

It's not all one package though, you'll have to get the drivers separately.
Good luck

Re: Running Bootcamp

A hint on the ASUS website's downloads sections

the US mirror sucks balls. Try the europe mirror or one of the asia mirrors.

Re: Running Bootcamp

Thanks for the help. Downloaded one of each one. Can't get them to work, but I'll figure it out.
