SC2 Beta sign up
shoot, just realized i could make multiple accounts if I spread out my cd-keys to multiple emails.
Would you really want to deal with multiple battle.net accounts though for different games just for the slightly greater beta opt-in chance?

You can merge them later.

I think his point was more that if you buy three lottery tickets instead of one, your chances are still abysmal. e.g., it's not worth any extra expended effort.
I'd rather still keep all three lottery tickets I already paid for instead of throwing the other two away. The latter is just stupid. It only takes a few extra minutes anyway, not like you're gonna break a leg doing it.

I'm bored and so I'm pursuing this one for the sake of argument.
If it takes effort (however minimal) to create a new Battle.net account and register for this thing, how did you "already pay for" it in terms of the lottery ticket metaphor?
Assuming of course that winning the lottery is analogous to getting a beta key, as buying a ticket is analogous to creating new accounts to increase your chances.

Buying a ticket isn't analogous to creating a new account. It is to buying a Blizzard game and obtaining a cd-key. He already paid for the three cd-keys which would have generated him triple the chance, why would he give up that chance and only pursue a third of it?
cool kids don't apply for the beta then just play the pirated version

There will be a pirated version? /ignorant
A cracked singleplayer campaign is more or less unavoidable. We can safely assume someone like warforge or pvpgn will show up with a beta server as well.
1. Beta will include map editor, this is for sure, but we don't know if the editor has some limitation to it.
2. The keys that Blizzard's China Representative Office promised for the Chinese sites are the keys for North America beta, which will start before any other regions. However, the keys will be handed out in batches.
3. The map editor (final version?) in SC2 is very powerful, RPG map making has infinite possibilities. (Sounds familiar?)
4. Beta will only have multiplayer part, no single player campaign content. You need to connect with Battle.net even if you want to play with the AI.
5. Current demo doesn't have RPG maps. We don't know if beta will have any yet.
6. Insane AI will cheat, their resources gathering rate will be twice as fast as normal. Other AI's will not cheat.
7. Beta will have Battle.net Ladder.
8. Classic maps are remade. For example, Lost Temple. *(would have happened no matter what)
9. About spec, it will require really good hardware to support the highest setting which will look magnificent.
10. Mainstream dual core processor, +2G memory, +9800GT and the like will be required in order to set the graphics to medium. *Lots of confusion going on about this, Blizzard's going to keep it a secret as long as they can.
11. As a guideline: A laptop from two years ago may still be able to play SC2.
12. Blizzard Chinese official site is in preparation. No info when it will be online, but it will be "soon".
13. You can save replays in Beta and the features in the replays are much better than the original StarCraft.
Firstly, the demonstration version allowed multiplay through the method of IP connection, but like its predecessor ‘StarCraft’, after the map was selected and the room was made, you could wait until other players came or added computers, and after the conditions were made you could start the game immediately.
The amazing truth is that there was no loading time. Like eating rice after putting it in water (a common way for Koreans to cool down rice instantly while not altering the flavor) the loading time was over almost instantly, and because of this there was no time to enjoy the starting of the glorious first game, or for stretching, or for straightening your back there was the direct greeting that became a slight abuse.
-GameStar says Beta is likely to start end of May or in June (Summer?).
-Overall gameplay is faster than in SC:BW.
-Terrans are played more defensive but keep their known flexibility.
-Game looks already very well and near to its finishing.
-4 Marines / 2 Maurauders will fit in one Terran bunker. After an upgrade this will be 6 / 3.
-Zerg Roaches (if your enemy) are a bit nasty in early gameplay if you need to encounter them.
-Broodlord fires “eggs” where Broodlings emerge from to attack the enemy.
-New Infester model as confirmed (seen on screenshots before)
-Enemy air units that are taken down by the Corrupter will be morphed into a weak “turret” *(yay turrets)
-Terran Bunkers, Rocket Towers and Sensor Towers are sellable.
