I found a DVD with Cops episodes on it at Walmart last night for $3.97. Late eighties, but too weird to not mention.

It's crazeh and interesting, this place! I have such fondness for it :]

(D, I feel like I've watched you grow up.. except that makes me sound like a super creepster. Oops!)

I don't have anything useful to say about Terry Schiavo :[ I fail.

Actually, car sexiness aside, counseling is not a bad idea. You are doing quite well considering the circumstances but counseling can be good for a person in any number of situations. It can take a while to find the right "fit" of course.

I am Canadian, actually, but our government is pro-education as well so it's all good. In any case, intelligence is not just important to me, it is attractive. I was raised (by two academics) to be attracted to it.. but I was also brought up to consider a variety of types of intelligence, and not solely the one cultivated by our educational system.

My education has taught me to be confident but it has also made me aware that there are a million things in this world that I don't know. For instance, I don't know enough about HIV/AIDS on this planet. I get the impression that you don't either. If I am wrong about that, wonderful. Yes, education is a fabulous tool, and yes it's great that you know better than to have unsafe sex. Unfortunately, you sound more pleased for yourself and those similar to you than you sound concerned for the safety of the people who are not this fortunate. I am all for education - there is no need to imply otherwise as I certainly did not.

I don't look at a lack of an education as a flaw, I look at having one as a privilege. My education gives me an advantage in some areas, yes, but it does not make me a superior human being.

Not everybody is privy to the information about HIV/AIDS that they need to make safe choices. It sucks, but it doesn't mean something is "wrong with them", particularly as individuals. Yes, those who do not know about sexually transmitted infections and diseases should be made aware, but not everyone can just get off their butt and immediately find out everything they need to know. I have had easy access to that information via school, via parents, via my community. I am lucky, I am not better.

Furthermore, I don't think that the cases of children born with HIV and women who contracted it via rape (to name just a few more "innocent" styles of contraction) equals one percent or less of the population, but I would sure as hell be suspicious of any doctor that tried to tell me so.

Edit: I've just read from an appropriately sourced article that of the 2 million people that died from AIDS in 2007, more than 1 in 7 were children.

Eh, sometimes people learn from mistakes - especially mistakes of such a monumental nature as contracting HIV. Things happen and people screw up. It doesn't necessarily mean that they can never be trusted to make decent decisions in the future.

A difficult question..

I think that you just hold on as tight as you can and take it one moment at a time.

I don't know. Strength is hard to find sometimes. Look for it in yourself, and if you can't find it there, stay as close to those you love, and those that love you, as you can.

Yay Batman :]

Yup.. There's nice, and there's letting yourself get walked all over.. and anyone who is willing to walk all over a person in that way is clearly not the right person to be with. Not for that guy, anyway.

Acting like a friend is a decent way to get a girlfriend if you're after the right girl, I would think.. although I dunno. I have never been into someone that I didn't know at least somewhat well already, but I don't know if that's "normal" or not.

Meh, everyone has faults. Sometimes I think that "love" is just about finding someone with a complementary set of 'em to be with.

therefore there is no possible reason (even for those with strong faith) to suspect that it contains hidden morals, hints of the future, or stock tips.

There's also no reason to assume it doesn't have a meaning to it. Given how long writers tend to spend writing poems and stories, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that they think about various meanings they can put into it, or things they could put across. I don't imagine you think Shakespeare plays don't have hidden meaning, so there's no reason to assume that this poem doesn't either. As to the poem you posted, while admittedly it seems pretty simplistic, there's no reason to assume that there's nothing else there either.

Don't get me wrong, I do think that sometimes people may read into poems things that weren't intentional - but equally so, there are probably some things which are. Since none of us (presumably) are the ones who wrote it, it's actually less important what the original meaning was, it's more about how we chose to interpret it and how we enjoy it, as you said. And while you enjoy this poem on a purely literal level, you yourself said it was your own personal opinion and enjoyment of it. Equally so, other people are free to take away whatever meaning they want from the poem as long as it appeals to them.

Very well put, I agree completely. There are a lot of interesting ideas out there about how much what was intended by the author actually matters. I think it's exciting to look at the ways in which a piece can separate itself from its origins. ^^

Spoiler:
Personally, I liked the rapidfire deaths. Not everyone should get a big epic chapter devoted to their death, with how many duels and the constant fighting going on, it felt like some people had to die - and if they were a semi-important character, so be it.

Spoiler:
I liked that too. It would have been way more cheesy if every character that died had had a huge "moment" before going. Oftentimes, death just happens. I found the matter-of-factness of it to be appropriate. As for Rowling knowing how to handle death.. there were some really sombre moments that needed no words, like the Weasley family around Fred's body. That was enough for me.

Haha, whatever, I thought it was awesome too ^^ A lot of fun to watch..

*ahem*

Get one get one get one so that I can annoy you with texts!

You don't have to answer your phone if you don't want to. I find mine to be obnoxious so I keep it on silent most of the time (as you know, lol) and just end up calling people back on it, keke. Oh, and I'm with Rogers.. they're ok. I think Aliant is prolly better.. but I don't know why I think that. Weird!

As for what kind of phone to get.. midunno. I haven't had any trouble with mine so far, but I could just be lucky. You know Chris swears by his Ericsson.

GET A MOBILE PHONE, sir!

I wouldn't say that Venom is dead already. Harry took one of those bombs directly to his face and he lived. Also there was no sign of Brock's body

Spoiler:
When that bomb that "killed" Venom went off, in the flash there was a human skeleton.. just like all the other times when people got vaporised. I think Brock is gone.

I was really disappointed with the movie. It could have been a thousand times better.

Ironically enough, I am also opposed to the putting of latex bags into pussies of any sort.

You wouldn't be saying that if she called you later and said "The strip was blue."

 Oh Curtis.. Nice!

At least they only charge the price of a meal for the kitty couture wink
