Topic: DotA Banlisting mayhem

I've been playing DotA while I can't connect to WoW, and I've gotten pretty good at it. The DotA community has grown a lot since the days when we all had inhouse games.
Does anyone still play? Pretty much all of the games are monitored by a banlisting program. The rules are pretty fair, but now the hosts of the game can decide who gets banned and who doesn't. I just got banned for "abusing" Tiny. (Tiny is a hero whose ultimate makes his damage increase dramatically at the cost of attack speed.) Now I don't really know how I can abuse tiny. I ganked a lot, but that's the only real negative thing I could see I did. I spent 20 minutes talking to the guy, he didn't even speak decent english. The conclusion of the conversation was him saying "u r2 good for my game". wtf. <_<
Has anyone else been screwed over by the new system? I wish I knew where to report shit like this, or suggest that people have to go through a test or something to be able to banlist people.

If you're talking about TDA, you can't get banned for "abusing" a hero. But if you're banned on 'his' banlist, most likely you're not banned from anyone elses. It just seems like you're playing pubs, try and play TDA games... if you have an iconed account.

You post a replay at shitlistem.com and then it is review and the offender is banned from the TDA channel.

I love banlists. Mostly because the morons who ban you don't realise that they don't make up 1% of the people who host DotA.

And screw TDA, they seem to have a problem with sepperating the difference between real life and a crappy custom game for an old RTS game.

Dota is not crappy IMO. It's quite addictive, cause you want to try and find out an item combination that'll > all. big_smile

And TDA is there for all people that want to get a good DOTA game in, instead of the lamers that join and leave in a -ar game when they don't get a hero that they want.

There also is not a RTS out on the market that holds a candle to the competitive aspect of WarCraft III(aside from StarCraft, but that was already there).

Your reason for saying it's not crappy is the main reason why I find it crappy.

I've rarely had somebody leave because they didn't get their hero. In fact I don't even recall a time. I have had people leave when they die 5 times, which is just because of the imbalanced death system in DotA. I'm sure I'll love playing with the losers who play DotA all day, I'm sure they won't brag every time they kill me, try to insult me, or add me to their banlist out of spite (TDA).

And despite what you're saying, it doesn't change the fact that the game is several years old.

Arguiing opinions is pointless. I don't see why you guys are doing it. Anyhow, I love banlist because it gets rid of a lot of dipshits. Also, host kicked you because you were on his PERSONAL banlist. That banlist is not shared with anybody but him so no worries. wink

i took a huge break from dota but i started playing a few weeks ago, what's with that ping they do right before the game now? it's starting to piss me off because ever since i got a wireless router my ping comes up as "t/o" and my country as "unknown" so i get booted from people's game who have those

That means your router rejects inbound pings. Set it to accept them.

Bop got me hooked on LAN Party DotA, but since I built a new PC I haven't been able to play. My scroll is too fast. I've turned down the scroll setting to the minimum, but if I mouse over or even arrow over for more than a split second, I get sent all the way across the screen. I tried just normal WC3 and had the same problem. I've even reinstalled without the no-cd crack and use the CD and it still doesn't work.
Anyone ever hear of this?
