"A sequel to Starcraft is right at the top of many gamers' "Please, God, Make This Happen" list. Well, the Lord works in mysterious ways. If not a true sequel, gamers may be getting some more Starcraft action after all.

During a presentation to Wall Street today, a company representative from Vivendi reportedly said, "All Blizzard franchises will become MMOGs." The rep said they have a model in place to produce an MMOG for $50 million over the next three years.

World of Warcraft is one of the great success stories of our time. The big question is: with WoW already sucking hours/weeks/years of gamers' lives away, how will we ever find time to play World of Starcraft or World of Diablo? Alas, that these evil days should be ours!"


To me, horrible news. I demand a new quality RTS. I realize this doesn't actually say they will not make any other games besides MMO's, but seems to me if they are working on a new MMO there won't be much room to fit in SC2 or WC4 in there.

Fuck mmogs i want a rts. All the mmogs are the same, give me sc2 god damn it. It takes no skill at all to play WOW or whatever. Make sc2 in rts form that is what everyone wants.

Fuck that, I WANT a Starcraft MMORPG.  The last decent Sci-Fi MMORPG was Anarchy Online... I'm ready for a new one.   I would quit WoW for a Starcraft MMORPG.

I was never really, really into the Warcraft mythos before WoW was released, but I do feel the game rather wrecked the universe and history that people loved from the previous games, turning into little more than a convenient background. I'd hate to see that happen with Starcraft. A Starcraft RPG might be interesting, but it would have to be an actual RPG - none of that Diablo or MMORPG sillyness.

" The rumours have been swirling since last night, when MMOG discussion site F13 posted the surprising news that Blizzard plans to make MMOGs of Starcraft and Diablo. Turns out that while the possibility still exists, that's not exactly accurate. The CessPit has some of the slides from Vivendi's presentation, (courtesy of SirBruce). The last of these would seem to show the mere possibility (not confirmation) of expansion into the Massive and console markets for the company's intellectual properties. However, this is coupled with a flat denial by lead designer Rob Pardo:

"Nothing in that rumor is true in regards to Blizzard. If I had to guess, there was some confusion between what Vivendi has planned for its game division versus what Blizzard has planned. While Blizzard is owned by Vivendi, their game division operates separately from Blizzard."

So, while not out of the question, I find it unlikely we'll be hearing about World of Starcraft any time soon."

Why would it be nessesary for a WC4? WC3 already seems to have perfect gameplay for the type of RTS it is, and WoW apparently fills in the rest of the storyline.

SC2 on the other hand sounds like it would be the greatest RTS ever made sad
