Ooo, turns out BW doesn't use a key? at least it didn't ask as I was installing. It has been too long.

I'm working on setting up a PvPGN server to test Starcraft on. You connect through Battle.net except you use a different gateway than the Blizzard ones. Not sure if people would be more interested in PvPGN or Hamachi. I'm thinking if enough people wanna use it, we could do some sort of tournaments or something. We could possibly link your account on the PvPGN server to your pub username and you could view stats right from the site. Not quite sure what could all be done yet, but there seems to be lots of potential with it. It can also be used for Warcraft 2, Diablo, Diablo 2, and Warcraft 3.

I vote PvPGN over Ham.... couldnt get ham to work well.

yeah, ham was failing pretty badly.
maybe it has something to do with UDP?
it would make sense for hamachi to be designed specifically for tcp

I think you need a program like Camtasia (works like fraps for non-3d) to record the whole thing. There may be other ways but thats all I can think of or find with half-assed research.

Eh what? Have you guys been doing this successfully yet? I've been on and off hamachi trying to get involved in some games, but no dice so far.

Dustin has a bnet server setup for us. You'll need the registry file to connect, I think its www.undeadarmy.com/gateway.reg

Yeah thats the right link. I think I found a solution to the gateway list resetting for some people. I'll post it once I test it a little more.

If anyone has problems connecting to the server, make sure you have the latest patch. Either by connecting to battle.net on a regular server or getting it from the blizzard site. If you have anything lower than 1.14 there is a possibility you won't be able to connect. I'm working on fixing that, but for now, just patch it manually.

Does that registry file work for Vista? My friend has Vista and ran the .reg file, but when he tries picks the private server from the gateway list he gets a memory error that crashes SC. He has the latest version and has even reinstalled the game so I'm blaming it on Vista.

It seems that when I log onto the blizzpub battle.net, the registry is somehow reset and i have to add the registry info again if I log out. Otherwise only the standard servers show up on the lists...

It's quite possible that registry file won't work on Vista. I have no clue what the registry is like on Vista. I will install Starcraft on my brother's laptop that has Vista and play around.

Starcraft comes up with the PVPGN server alright. its just when I try to connect, it errors out. I'd would think its a server - vista problem, not so much with registry.

Nah its gotta be a vista problem, my friend with vista has the same issue. Nobody with XP I know of is getting the same issue.
