Under my NDA I do believe I can say that it's damn sexy.

  The community is not built around any purpose.   The community is about bringing together a bunch of PC gamers who like blizzard games.   I'd love to reflect it by having blizzard-relevant content, but it's not something I can offer myself.

It's a little-known fact, but we actually own  www.sc2pub.net.   (we own several other, such as warpub.net as well, but that's not where my main hopes are).  To re-focus this site around SC2 would be ideal.  Not ostracise our existing users, keep it as a gaming forum just as before, but to offer front-page content which is relevant to SC2 would be great.  Try as I may to make the time I used to be able to the site, I simply cannot, though.  Anyway, as you well know, it takes many more people behind the scenes to make such a site tick.   And since it's 100% volunteer, what place do we have to penalize people who don't do anything?

I think you're confusing matters.   To all of us, War3Pub was awesome.   It didn't matter that it wasn't pretty, it gave us what we wanted, and that's why we stuck around.   So yes, users aren't concerned with the design so much as they are with how well the site provides what they want.  It still doesn't make it pretty however.    Ideally, we'd have a pretty site with tons of great content.  Maybe we can spark that fire with SC2 user-submitted content, such as replays, screenshots,    and hosting tourneys again.   It is a gamble which may work out, and then it may not.   Some of it is up to Thomas and I to get the code in place and solid in time, and some of it is just hoping the community plays their part in spreading the word and contributing what they can.  It may fail spectacularly, it may do nothing, or it may give us the much-needed boost to get things running again.

I remember a time when we needed to get on board new news writers.  We got 23 applications for 2 spots, and the admins deliberated over it carefully.  21 people got turned down, for volunteer spots.   Now it's nearly impossible to get a single writer to write anything.   In our most recent attempt at a revival, the end result kinda fizzled.  I commend Wozer for writing what he did, he's the only person who took his job seriously, even if the topic wasn't blizzard-related.   It boils down to active users, we just don't have that userbase right now.   Maybe we will again.

The header shown in the first screenshot is not the header we'll actually use. It was merely what I worked off of to do the new design.

Hurry up and finish the new fucking theme. It fills me with happy.

If you are referring to what's in the first post, it's the same overall layout but the colouring has gotten a significant overhaul as has many other things. It is after all a work in progress.
