Topic: Blizzpub Team Fortress 2 Server

We now have our very own tf2 server! Woo!

It's called "The Pub" and resides at tf2.blizzpub.net:27015.
16 players max and cycles the 6 official maps.

We're still tweaking the configs, mapcycles and such; Any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

I also enjoy gravelpit. dustbowl too.  2fort would be a thumbs down if I were playing war3.

We're still getting the config just right and such, so if the server is down, it'll be for <30 seconds, as we're restarting it.

No spawn timer please! Oh, and I'd love to see some custom maps added to the rotation. I'll get a compilation with some pubbies first and then submit them to you.

There aren't enough regular blizzpub players to justify putting a password on the server.  I think it would be a better idea to just set reserve slots for the regulars.  That way the server should have a fair number of players at any given time, while still allowing us to join when we want.

Like I said in the OP, the password is there until we feel it's running smoothly, and moreover that it can handle the load. I've not messed with reserved slots, any idea how to set it up?

Lazy Town will definitely be added to the cycle.

Right now on control point maps the attacker's round timer is set to 20 minutes....WAAAAAY too long.  Also the time it takes to capture a point is like 5 seconds, that is WAAAAAAY too short.  Just set it at the default or at least in the same ballpark as most other servers...?

Those settings are actually at their default since I haven't touched them.

Maybe you haven't touched them, but I doubt 20 minutes is really the default round time...?  Somebody else must have changed them.

4 or 5 minutes for attacker/defender maps.  For taking a point...I dont know....30 seconds...?

Also we really should have SOME respawn timer, because it makes the game too hard to win for attackers on these maps.  10 - 15 seconds...?

I have played it a ton and no server has their default round time for attacker/defender maps set at 20 minutes.  Maybe you are thinking of CTF maps?

Yes, someone else, all the other people that do not have access to the server did it. It's not in the config, it's using whatever the game uses as default. I've been looking around for the appropriate vars that adjusts round duration and cap duration, but I can't find them; So if anyone else can tell me the names we can tweak then.

There should be a respawn timer on though? I don't think you can even change that without using a mod.

Taking a point only takes a few seconds.  And defending maps are 20 minutes.

Ummm...For the whole map maybe?  Spend 10 minutes playing the game and you will see that no server gives the attacking team 20 minutes to capture the first point.......

Password removed.

Regarding the round duration and capture duration, from all we could find, this is a map defined thing and cannot be adjusted without modified maps. It probably just feels longer because the server wasn't full.

not sure about capture duration, but mp_roundtime in the server.cfg should set the round duration.

Those settings should be standard, you don't have to change them. Changing capping time especially is stupid, the game is already a stalemate fest on certain maps.
