Re: Splash
The style sheet (http://us.media.blizzard.com/232309/master.css) has a commented out reference to an image:
/*.tundra {background:url(_images/04.jpg) no-repeat 0 0} */
Note also that the directory there is 232309.

Re: Splash
World Wide Invitational and the announcement at 29th? What conspiracy is there in "WWI"?
The splash image has been analyzed to hell. Some people said it's something related to Woltk because style sheet has "tundra" in it, and the image is obviously icy. Some say the sign in the image (middle left) is somewhat resembling the frost rune logo for the DK. Some say it's Woltk beta. Some are just saying it's Diablo 3 set in heaven, where it's cold (?), or it's hell frozen over, or it's a continuation from the Diablo 2 Act 5 where it's icy.
Some pointed out that Blizzard enjoys misdirecting their overzealous fans and surprising them in the end, and the image really has nothing to do with anything. I find this more plausible.
EDIT: there's also the comparison between the pattern in the sign to that of Shael rune in Diablo 2, or the Lich King's sword. There's a whole guessing game right now, signs pointing to whatever you want to believe in, basically.

Too late, someone already "hoped" it to be warcraft 4 on the diabloii.net comments section ![]()

Clearly its an internal, first person view of minerals being harvested by a SCV.

New commented out CSS section:
/*.cavern {background:url(_images/15.jpg) no-repeat 0 0} */
If we're still working with letters, yesterday's 04 is a D and today's 15 is an O.

Haha, you win your own thread. Unless that wasn't your idea =P

You may be right, but I contribute to what's being discussed, unlike someone in most cases.
EDIT: The four-tile image seems a lot more plausible artisically at this point, any how.
There should be six splashes (Monday - Saturday) til the announcement on 28th. A press conference is scheduled after the first day of the WWI, so everyone pretty much agrees at this point that the announcement is on the 28th during the opening ceremony, likely. It doesn't make sense to make it a four piece puzzle.
My prediction is that the splash will "crack open" more and more and there'll eventually be six rune symbols in a hexagon pattern, yielding something Diablo-ish. And I'm betting on D3.

I'll give you some cases, but I think not most.
Anyways, assuming it is D3 which it looks pretty clear that it is, how long do would it be before it's actually available to play?
They announced SC the same way and it didn't really mean anything except that it will eventually exist.
Re: Splash
Flux admits in the four piece caption that there will probably be two more below (for legs). I'm not saying there will be four pieces total, but that the two images currently lend themselves more to the 2x2 grid than the 2x3/3x2 grids.
Having the splash open up more and more seems like a fairly safe bet and I'm sure we can all agree on that, as well as (at this point) assuming we'll get a new rune each day (possibly forming a shape at the end) and a new 'hidden image' URL/puzzle piece each day until the announcement.
EDIT: Gotta say the first one looks a lot less like a Shael rune than the Frostmourne rune, in my opinion.

I'd agree althought 2304x0 is still 0 =[
Starcraft 2 looks like it's going to be an updated version of Starcraft. Enhanced graphics, couple new units and maps, etc. This will make some people happy, but I personally think it's stupid and a waste of time. If they were gonna make another RTS it should have been Warcraft IV (or V depending on how you look at it) where they have tons of room to open things up lore wise and game mechanics/content wise.
BUT! that is not what this thread is about. And yes darin I agree 100%...D3 >> SC2 and if it is D3 I will be very VERY excited. I'm so eager to see what direction Blizzard takes the game in.
