Trying to get Riven to run on XP

So, I got bored last week and decided that playing through the myst games would be a good diversion for a few hours.

Anyhoo, I got a "legitimate" version of Riven DVD, installed it, and it worked, albeit with some sound and video issues because I'm running XP, not windows 95.

That said, I went to play again today and it won't work anymore. The screen turns black, like it's gonna work, then I just get booted back to the desktop. Nothing gets added to the process list, it's like the program just doesn't try to start.

FYI I have XP with a Intel Core 2 Quad, 3 GB ram, and a Radeon HD 2600 XT.
