Topic: Dead video card?
For a few months, when there is a lot of black displayed on the screen I've noticed there are random pixels throughout that stay red, blue or green. When I scroll on the page, those pixels will bleed in the direction that I scroll. Eventually I could have almost solid lines of blue, red, or green across my monitor. It's gotten a lot worse though, because now my monitor will start to flicker off and on and eventually freeze. If I have music playing it will continue to keep playing until I get a blue screen saying there is a hardware issue.
I've been ignoring it for awhile, just because I haven't wanted to go out and get a new video card. I think the one I currently have is a GeForce 7900 GS. The problem is so severe now I can only be on it for 5-10 minutes before it freezes again (I'm typing this up on another computer).
I googled this problem a while ago, and I thought I remember finding a couple threads on various sites with people having the same problem, with the same video card.
So I need some verification, I guess. The problems I'm experiencing are due to a busted video card, right? And, what video card should I now get (I remember a few months ago I asked the same question about new video cards, but I'm not sure if anything has changed in the video card market.)?
Thanks dawgs.
