I'm not quite sure. On one hand it looks great, but on the other hand I suck at fighters and it's $60.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

I want to buy it but I have SSF2THDR and have played no more than 1 hour of it. I suck at fighters. I loved SF2 for the SNES but I never got good at it. I was just a button masher that could beat my friends.

As Kenak said, it's $60. I'm not sure if I can drop that for a game I might play a few times then shelve.

But if i do get it, it will be for the 360. Another reason I am not too keen on getting it. The D-Pads suck on the 360 and don't want to shell out another $100 for a stick for a game I might not play.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

though i hate to recommend MadCatz, i have heard some very good things about their sf4 controllers and arcade sticks.

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/Product … sku=802974 = 6 face buttons and a raised dpad reminiscent of the saturn controllers. =[ $40 bucks if you need a new controller. but i know what you're saying, hard to justify the money if you really aren't THAT in to it.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

Das, those MadCatz are actually really good. I haven't bought anything of theirs since like N64. From what I hear, they have stepped their game up. Well at least with these SF4 controller and stick.

Yeah $40 is too much for me to invest if I'm not sure. But IF I do buy SF4, I will be buying a stick. I never got good with a sticks and would love to learn. Then I could go to arcades... well Dave and Buster's and own.

I remember Barnes & Noble screwing up the pricing on the MadCatz SF4 Stick. They were selling it for like $40. I would have jumped on it but I know the purchase would be denied... Which was what happened.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

Yep. I hate buying multiplayer games for the PS3, but the d-pad on the 360 is just too shitty. Not that the PS3's dpad is anything great, it's just that the 360's actually makes it seem great by comparison.

Killzone 2
Resident Evil 5
Halo Wars

Between these three games, I doubt I'll have much time to play a game that will skull fuck the shit out of me. I'll probably wait for the price drop. I have SSF2THDR in the mean time anyways.

And the Madcatz controllers look awesome; it's just too much for a company that has been known to produce dodgy quality products.

It rates well. The plastic is a bit flimsy and durability suffers a bit from this.

This isn't just another MadCatz controller nor is the arcade stick. Capcom wanted these to be made well above MadCatz' level of par. MadCatz understood this. They went and chose the best d-pad to imitate for their design. The Saturn USB controller.

MadCatz may slack on a lot of their other stuff but they didn't want to screw up this deal with Capcom.

It does sound quite nice, and is a nice compromise, especially considering how inexpensive it is. I did like the 6-button genesis controllers' ergonomics, so this seems like it'd work well.  The madcatz arcade stick on the other hand is ugly and silly, who needs dual analog sticks and LR buttons on a gaming pad?

I really wish they still made this: ( review )

They were originally $60, now you can't find them under $130.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

The fightpad has one big downfall for some 360 owners and that it is a wired controller. It's not a problem for me. I have a wired and wireless controller and use the wired one almost exclusively. Not sure why. It just doesn't bother me.

Also the wired is cool because it can possibly work fora PC as well. I'm not certain of this. Not sure if different drivers would be required. I don't see why they would be called for though.

That HORI stick is so nice. If I knew I was going to hate the d-pad this much for the 360 for fighting games, I would have bought it. Also the fact that it's going for such high prices makes me kick my own ass as well.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

i'm probably going to be buying one of the HORI sticks actually, as it looks like i'll be buying an xbox360. i have a 360 controller i use on my PC and hell yeah that d-pad is one of the worst things ever.

the HORI should work just fine for the PC as well i'd assume too, which will be good for some of those arcade roms i have =]

though this guy is kinda expensive, http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Real-Arc … amp;sr=8-3

Oh Snap.
I didn't know an xbox 360 version of the Real Arcade Pro existed, I thought it was PS3 only. Honestly, if you're going to spend $130 on an arcade stick, might as well get brand new Real Arcade Pro directly from amazon themselves rather than a probably used DOA4 stick from ebay that originally retailed for $60.  The only real advantage of the DOA4 stick is it has the shorter "japanese style" stick instead of the longer one of the Real Arcade. The buttons on the Real Arcade are higher quality (which is why it cost more), and as you can see there are more buttons; for more game compatibility. The DOA4 one was specifically made for that game, and therefore eschewed mapping the LR bumpers to buttons.

Damn, now I want that really freaking badly.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

I preordered it. But like other mere mortals, I have to wait for it.

I'm also getting the madcatz fightpad. I'd love to get a hori stick, but I'm not about to shell $130 for another gaming accessory; the madcatz pad seems like a nice compromise at $40.  Stupid ryu version already being sold out =[ could only get Blanka and Chun Li, I opted for blanka.

Hori got the license to make the official accessories for Japan's release of the game, and we're stuck with mad catz neutral I betcha you'll see a bunch of people importing them.

You do realize MarkMan who is known in the fighting game world with being really good with Arcade Sticks helped MadCatz on these.

The actual Tournament Edition stick uses Sanwa parts from the real SF4 arcade cabinets and is very mod friendly.  Its nice and sturdy too.  Look up the reviews for the Tournament Edition stick.. Everywhere is saying its the best stick on the market right now.. (And amazingly.. from MadCatz!)  Though its not MadCatz parts tongue

The TE stick is $150 though, while the non-TE stick is $80. I know the TE stick is high quality stuff; and actually a good deal to get the sanwa parts included, rather than having to waste your time importing them.  The $80 stick is still pretty decent also being moddable, but that's the one I was lamenting; not the $150 one.  I can't even get the TE stick, preorders everywhere are sold out. If you can get one easily Adam, I might consider paypal'ing you money for it.  If not, I'll try to snag a hori real arcade pro.   Until then, I'll be happy with my $40 gamepad.

you really should =[

i put my order in for the HORI Real Arcade Pro, Sanwa stick, HORI buttons. not very much of a downgrade at all from the TE, and swapping out buttons should be just as easy if i want to spend the extra cash on new buttons.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

I really shouldn't though. I spent $20 on SSF2THDREMIXOIJECDD and played it no more than 2 hours. This could happen if I buy SF4 but cost me even more.

In the last 3 months I have bought close to 40 games not counting the close to 50 Arcade games I have. I have quite the backlog of games. I could spend the rest of this year just beating the games I bought from last year and still not have to buy a game.

I might wait until I can find it on sale for $40 or when Gamestop has another Buy 2 Used Get 1 Free.

Don't do it. If you find yourself sucking at fighters, investing $150 isn't going to motivate you to play through a game that consistently hands your ass to you. Practice at arcades or bare with the 360 d-pad.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

I practiced hard for about 3 weeks before SF4 on HD Remix with a 360 pad..

Now I'm pretty freaking awesome with Vega on my TE Stick big_smile

I don't suck at fighters. I suck at Street Fighter. Tekken, VF, DoA, and similar fighters I am good at. I suck at MK because I could never get into the "dial a combo" crap. I'm not sure if MK vs DC is the same way with combos.

Re: any of you buying Street Fighter 4?

Aren't fighters a pretty outdated genre, have they really changed so much since 15 years ago that they're worth dropping all this money on for a new 100$ stick etc.
(I'm not trolling this is a real question, i just don't quite understand the appeal.)

The pretty graphics is what people play it for, I guess. The truth is people get sold something, and they think it's greater than what it actually is. Marketing at its best.
