Topic: bioshock 2 anyone?

So, I found out about this:

http://somethinginthesea.com/

All signs point to Bioshock 2. Youtube also has these:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj2hewPBQh0 - a tease trailer
and this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok_WrHfK … from_watch - a supposed gameplay video.

Anyone else know anything about this?

Despite the crappy economy, we might actually have something to look forward to this year.

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

I thought Bioshock was great, but I doubt they'll change the formula up much and I'm not sure if I'm ready to tackle the same game play again for another 15-20 hours.

I actually really like that "Something in the Sea" teaser site. I wonder how the story will be done.

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

That gameplay footage is fake. It's probably a mod of Bioshock 1.

Huh?

Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena
Tekken 6
Final Fantasy 13
God of War 3 (maybe this year?)
The Conduit
Madworld
Tom Clancy's HAWX
Ninja Blade
Halo 3: ODST
Resident Evil 5

I'm not looking forward to all of those games but many people are.

I liked the first hour or so of Bioshock. The atmosphere was great. Then I stopped playing it because the game didn't do anything different and it lost it's allure. I need to go back and complete it.

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

Even if we don't have anything to look forward to in gaming, the movie scene is going to rock this year...

If Kevin Costner were a super hero, his super power would be the ability to always find a rope of proper length and tensility coiled at his feet.

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

Yeah and the progressive jazz scene is going to be very good to us too!

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

Didn't blizzard hint they would be releasing a title by the end of this year? I'm assuming wings of liberty.

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

Yeah, 2009. It's still TBA with the exact release date.

Some more to look for. Some dates are still not concrete or it's me adding it to the list due to me hoping it will cmoe out this year.

Punch Out
inFamous
Dark Void
Sabotuer
Champions Online
Bayonetta
Ghost Busters
Batman-Arkham Asylum
Brutal Legend
Alan Wake
Beyond Good and Evil 2
RAGE
HL2: Episode 3

There are many more but...

Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem Forever? That's something to look forward to, but not this year. Anyway, I've seen three games in this that I'm even remotely interested in: God of War 3, Halo: ODST, and HL2: Episode 3. However, I don't own a PS3, so I won't be getting God of War, Halo: ODST looks okay (I might get when it gets cheaper), and I have yet to buy any of the Half Life's, and I doubt I am going to get around to buying this one.

Also, I wasn't mentioning movies because I forgot about them.

I understand the lack of anticipation in the majority of the games on the list. I am only waiting for a few of those games as for me actually buying them. But I do have a list of games that I would like to see how the final product turned out which is a bit longer.

ODST might be cool becaus I would imagine it will have different gameplay mechanics. ODSTs aren't super soldiers like spartans. They won't have shields that regenerate. They can't jump like they are in low grav and so forth. I'm thinking they might go more tactical with it. I don't know for sure and just speculating. I actually haven't seen or read anything on the game besides the trailer and that it was once called Recon.

I need to finsih HL2 then go on to Eps 1 and 2 before I contemplate getting Ep3.

Brutal Legend is something I am looking forward to due to Tim Schaeffer of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts and more fame. Also Jack Black is in it but that could go both ways.

I could go on and explain why I wish to play or wait for each game but my keyboard sucks.

Fixed for actual games that are coming out this year/matter =p Surprisingly Halo Wars turned out to not be shovel wear, and is actually a good game for people new to the RTS genre.

I really hope Starcraft 2 makes it this year, but I just don't see how. Even though Blizzard said they wanted to have one main release a year, I can't see Starcraft going from beta to released product between Summer '09 - Winter '09. Alan Wake is another crap shoot; I'm kind of glad I never really thought the game looked interesting, and only gained interest after their latest trailer. I am genuinely excited for what they will potentially show at E3.

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

If Halo Wars was made by just about any other company than Ensemble, I think, it would have been shoveled out crap.

Riddick is going to be cool because I never played through the first one completely and it's going to feature that game as well. I played the demo and it seems good but I had a problem one play through where I got to a check point with low health and couldn't do anything besides start over. I wonder how that is going to affect the finish product with difficulty and having to restart. How far does on restart and so forth.

Resident Evil 5. I can see why people want this game. I really want to like it. I really want to buy it. But do I want to bother with those archaic controls? "Blah blah blah something about survival horror and the controls add to it." Yeah surviving those controls to the end of the game is quite the horror. But I will most likely buy it because I'm stupid. Also a sucker for co-op games.

EDIT: SC2 could make it out this year. Once game dev/pub decides a game is gold it can be out in weeks. But then again, I'm not savvy with how long it took for WC3 to go from beta to gold to release. Also I'm not actually too in the know of how far along SC2 is anyways so I'm just speaking out of my ass now.

Re: bioshock 2 anyone?

Looks like Bioshock. Not that it's a bad thing, it just depends on whether you wanted more of the same or not.

Big Sister is kind of freaky.
