Topic: So I think I need to upgrade my video card

I'm having trouble playing DOW2 on decent settings so I think my video card is finally out of date.

My current video card is a: NVidia GeForce 7950 GT

This is the rest of my setup which isn't that outdated I think:
Core2Duo OCed to 3GHz
2 GB DDR2 RAM (corsair, if I remember correctly)

I'm looking for a card with the range of $150-250, but if there's a really good "bang for my buck" card out right now I'd go for that.
Any suggestions?

Radeon HD 4870 will play any game you want at 16x10 at max setting, and it costs quite a bit less than $200 now.

EDIT: I found a really good deal for you on Newegg.

Just to confirm, there's no mobo compatability issues with video cards right? My current mobo, can't remember the entire type, is SLI capable - but it should still be able to run an ATI card, just not anything but nvidia in parallel?

pretty much.

And SLI/crossfire is silly; the technology changes too fast for it to be economically viable, instead you can just keep upgrading cards once every year instead of trying to drag out two cards for two.  It works out costing the same or more, basically; meanwhile causing you compatibility issues (though less nowadays) and sucking tons of juice for those 2 years, possibly costing you a power supply upgrade too.

That said, sometimes the most good value motherboards are SLI boards and you might as well get them, just not run them SLI.

If you have a crossfire board, 2x 4850 is actually a really good choice now for high res gaming (19x12 and up). It costs less than any single card option that offers similar performance. But honestly, a 4870 is enough to play DoW2 at max settings. I own an OCed 4830 and I can run that game at maxed everything and maintain 30 FPS+.
